Goose Hollow Whole Home Remodel

One important factor was the team’s ability to recommend rather than simply ask what we wanted. They told us what would work best given the constraints.”

After settling into their charming 1920s Portland craftsman home, our homeowners envisioned a full-scale remodel that would modernize their layout while preserving the home’s historical charm. Their goals included reimagining the kitchen as the heart of the home, adding a light-filled living space, updating multiple bathrooms, and creating a seamless indoor-outdoor flow to their patio. Our clients wanted a remodel that prioritized function, comfort, and architectural integrity!

To bring this transformation to life, the project required significant structural reconfiguration. The original staircase was removed and reimagined to better support the home’s circulation, while multiple walls and door openings were reworked to accommodate the new layout. Early in demolition, unforeseen challenges with the staircase emerged, but close collaboration between our design and production teams allowed us to successfully relocate it and thoughtfully integrate the laundry closet into the primary bathroom.

A new colorful kitchen was added in the old dining room, and the original kitchen was transformed into a galley-style butler’s pantry, which honored the home’s legacy while improving functionality. A large chimney in the original living room was removed and transformed into an elegant arched entrance that leads into a sun-filled sitting room. Even utility items, like the circuit breaker and thermostats, were thoughtfully relocated for better access and efficiency.

Throughout the remodel, thoughtful details preserved and elevated the home’s Craftsman character. A reimagined stairway and expanded closets improved both flow and functionality, while the open-concept kitchen was brought to life with durable granite countertops and rich charcoal-blue cabinetry. A geometric ceramic tile backsplash added visual interest and framed the coffee bar with subtle sophistication. In the mudroom, a floral-inspired blue wallpaper brought a vibrant touch of personality, while the primary bath featured serene sage subway tile in the shower and soft yellow walls that added warmth and light. Outdoor areas were equally transformed, with tiered decking designed for dining and entertaining, offering improved sightlines to the lush landscape and a striking view of Portland’s iconic Vista Bridge. Every finish was chosen to respect the home’s past while supporting the family’s modern lifestyle.
