Bathroom Remodel in Southeast Portland

Inspired by the natural beauty of its Mt. Tabor location, this 1906 Craftsman bathroom remodel captures the essence of the Pacific Northwest. The moss-green palette and artisan-like materials create a space that brings the outdoors in, perfectly reflecting this adventurous family’s love for nature.

The Vision: Bringing the Outdoors In

The bathroom’s previous 1990s remodel clashed with the historical character of the 1906 Craftsman home, so we focused on restoring its original charm. Our homeowners wanted a bathroom full of style and personality that looked like it belonged in a 1900s home. They favored earthy, warm tones, and we thoughtfully incorporated these elements while staying true to the home’s overall aesthetic. Keeping all of this in mind the COOPER team got to work on this bathroom remodel in Southeast Portland!

The Process: Adding Space Without Adding Square Footage

Faced with the challenge of optimizing the only full bathroom on the second floor, our team transformed a poorly laid out space into a functional, cohesive retreat for the entire family. The biggest hurdle was an awkwardly placed door that limited layout options and left the space feeling confined. By relocating the doorway, we were able to reposition the bathtub and vanity for a more natural flow.

With an exterior sunroom flanking one of the bathroom walls, our designers took a unique approach and added a reeded glass window to allow natural light from the sunroom to filter into the bathroom space. The result is a unique interior room that feels as if it’s on the exterior.

The Finishing Touches: Timeless Elegance & Beauty

A custom-crafted vanity in dark alder looks more like furniture than cabinetry. Intricate beadboard surrounds the room and is painted with a serene green tone that expertly matches the Zellige-inspired tile in the shower. Glass shower walls let the beauty of the shower tiles take center stage. Instead of conventional lighting, we sourced a unique gold flower sconce that became the room’s centerpiece. This touch, paired with coordinating gold fixtures, not only illuminated the space but also infused it with character and sophistication.

This bathroom remodel in Southeast Portland not only met our clients’ aesthetic and functional needs but was also completed on time and within budget. The outcome is a durable, beautiful bathroom that seamlessly integrates into the home’s overall design, offering both comfort and style for years to come.
