Whole Home Remodel in Portland, OR

Our clients fell in love with the neighborhood and schools surrounding this Tudor home, but knew the house’s current condition didn’t meet the lifestyle needs of their young family. They dreamed of preserving the home’s historic charm while maintaining modern functionality. With a plan to completely remodel the main floor,  kitchen, primary suite, and several other bathrooms, the COOPER team got to work transforming this enchanting Grant Park space with a whole home remodel.

The Vision: Revitalizing a Classic Home

The home’s original kitchen was cramped, and tucked away into a back corner. Our clients wanted an open floor plan on the main level that allowed for entertaining and seating for everyone. However, they enjoyed some original details of the house, like the fireplace, closet knobs, and distinct window shapes, so we left them in place to expertly merge the home’s historical past with the future that our clients envisioned.

The Process: Remodeling with Modern Style

After deciding on an open floor plan with a light, organic design style, the challenge became figuring out how to open the space and establish the flow while working within a unique footprint. As a result, five interior walls were removed and we relocated the kitchen sink and work surface into an existing bump out to allow for additional circulation space.

In the primary suite, we designed a shower crafted from tadelakt plaster. Not only did this match the organic, natural style of the home, but the mildew and mold-resistant material also offers a low-maintenance option for this busy family.

The Finishing Touches: Open and Airy Details

Warm, alder cabinets and quartz countertops complement each other and bring a light, natural feel to the space. We implemented creative storage solutions in the cabinet design that included blind corner pull-out shelving, a towel holder cabinet, a garbage and recycling drawer, and a beverage fridge next to the stainless steel refrigerator. Every inch of space was utilized to give a designated place for every item and appliance, leaving the countertops clutter-free.

The end result of this Tudor whole house remodel is a family-friendly home that seamlessly merges historical character with contemporary updates. Open, airy, and organic, this home is a true testament to the incredible results that COOPER creates with whole home renovations.
