Lake Oswego’s mix of historic, Mid-Century Modern and contemporary homes on properties loaded with potential, within view of Oswego Lake or not, makes it a perfect setting for the creative professionals of COOPER Design Builders. For more than 25 years, this Portland, Oregon-based design-build architectural and homebuilding company has been granting families in the Portland area the homes of their dreams, through integrated additions, whole-house remodels, and brand-new custom homes.
Lake Oswego
Lake Oswego, aptly described as a “leafy suburb” just a few miles south of Portland, cares about its community, its top-notch schools, its hundreds of acres of parks, and its neighborhoods. If you live in Lake Oswego or you’re considering buying a house here, you likely will care very much about how your home fits your needs. That’s where COOPER Design Builders comes in.
Examples of Our Work
COOPER Design Builders has transformed some potential-rich homes in Lake Oswego, including this 1952 Cape Cod, which started out as a three-bedroom, 2½-bath home. We created a modern new master suite and gourmet kitchen and added a bedroom, office, bathroom and basement flex space.
For another project in Lake Oswego, this whole-house remodel, we took advantage of a mostly undeveloped one-acre lot to create a playground of the homeowners’ dreams. We added a large addition to the back of the house with a bar, billiards space, and golf simulator room. We gave equal attention to the outdoor living spaces, including a covered patio with fireplace and grill, a pool with hot tub, and a full-size sports court.
Getting to Know You
We couldn’t have achieved such success with those projects without a strong focus on building a relationship with the homeowners. In every case, we start that relationship by listening to your needs, wants, and dreams for your home. We want to know how you spend time in the kitchen, how often you need rooms for out-of-town guests, how you’d like to blend the out-of-doors with your inside space, and many more such considerations.
If we’re talking about a remodel or addition, we will walk with you through your home to see its potential. Then we will be able to discuss how feasible your desires will be. We’ll also talk about costs, and we’ll describe to you how our design-build process works.
The Design
In the design phase, our team will present you with a first-round design. We’ll then take your feedback and make revisions based on what you like and don’t like. As we collaborate with you, we’ll come up with a plan that you love and that we know we can build on your budget. We’ll help you choose the materials, fixtures, and finishes for your project and then produce detail drawings so you can envision how your home will look when it’s complete.
Communicating Throughout
Because of our commitment to communication, we will keep you in the loop throughout each step of the design and subsequent construction. We have specific steps that we take on each job to minimize the disruption to your home during construction, including dust control, daily cleanup, and security features.
You will have an experienced site supervisor managing the day-to-day construction at your home and a production manager overseeing the supervisor. We ensure the attention to detail and quality craftsmanship that you deserve. We will meet with you regularly to update you on the project and provide you access to our online project management software. Through it, you can communicate with the team and look at the construction schedule, job specifications, and plans.
Follow-up, and Our Commitment
After the work is finished and we present you with your remodeled home, we provide a one-year warranty on all our work and follow up with warranty appointments at 30 days, six months and one year. We want to be sure you’re still happy with your new home. It’s part of our pledge to go above and beyond for you. We honor our commitments, stand behind our work, and always make it right.
